DocAda Light(tm)

The Integrated Hypertext Ada 95 Reference Manual(tm)

About DocAda Light: User's Guide: Structured Navigation

On all pages of DocAda Light you will find a set of links at the top and bottom (pages correspond to sections, annexes, clauses, and subclauses of the reference manual). This set presents a constant pattern of links separated by vertical bars; it is designed to help navigate through DocAda Light in a structured fashion.

For optimum use of DocAda Light, it is important that you know exactly what these links represent and how they can help you find what you are looking for or will look for in the future. At first sight, it may seem to be a very large number of links; however, you will soon see that these links represent essential access paths to DocAda resources, and that they are all very useful. Please take a few minutes to memorize the appearance, meaning and function of these links.

These links provide a structure for systematic navigation in the reference manual (where each item in bold would be a link, not shown here):

Prev | Up | Next | Back | Forward
About DocAda Light: Preface / Preliminary / Help / TOC / Copyright
DocAda Online at the Ada Home: Complete RM95 / Updates / News

If you are using a graphical browser, you will see the following equivalent menu with arrow icons:

arrow left | arrow up | arrow right | arrow back | arrow forward
About DocAda Light: Preface / Preliminary / Help / TOC / Copyright
DocAda Online at the Ada Home: Complete RM95 / Updates / News

The five top links are the "directional" links: The first three directional choices ("Prev," "Up," and "Next") will be activated only when appropriate; the next two ("Back" and "Forward") are always available. The exact meaning of all five depends on the context of the page in which they appear; they are described in a separate section of this user's guide: Directional Links. The other links constitute the structured navigation "menu", described in detail here.

Note that the directional links are presented below the menu links when the structured navigation options are offered at the bottom of a page; the meaning of the various links remains exactly the same.

Reference Manual Menu

The menu links have the same meaning on all pages of the Reference Manual (the items highlighted in bold here would be links):

About DocAda Light: Preface / Preliminary / Help / TOC / Copyright
DocAda Online at the Ada Home: Complete RM95 / Updates / News

The menu options have the functions described below:
